The brushed silver centre dial rotates indepently of the outer dial, ultilizing the hand painted 'arrow head' marker to indicate the alarm time (adjusted & wound by the crown at two). Once the alarm time is reached, it releases the hammer inside a resonating chamber to sound the alarm!
