Patek Philippe
Nautilus
3800 - Box & Certificate
That movement is the high-frequency calibre 335 SC, designed specifically for this watch. Introduced in 1980, it is an in-house Patek Philippe replacement for the Jaeger leCoultre cal. 28-255. The 335 was made for only 4 years, succeeded by the Patek Philippe cal. 315. This is an exceptionally short production run, strongly influencing the value of this watch. While the calibre was only produced to 1984, this watch was sold about two years later. How times have changed!
With collectors seeking discreet luxury with vintage pedigree, the striking blue Sigma dial of our Nautilus has a depth that photos can only approximate. It is best admired in person. It is after all, the blue embossed dial that is synonymous with the Nautilus. Whilst being extremely scarce, this is the configuration most coveted by connoisseurs. The dial has an attractive warm patina to the tritium hands & matching baton hour markers. The date disc is in contrasting black, a detail preserved in this watch. This was exclusively applied to the earlier production. Serviced in 2018 by Patek Philippe; they took special care not to polish the watch, keeping its beautiful factory finishing intact.
In our near 30 years, we have only ever had a handful of 3800s, and none quite like this.
