Roger Dubuis
Much More - Perpetual Calendar
Only 28 Made
It's been over five years since we've had the opportunity to deal with any Roger Dubuis watch, and it's a real treat to revisit the style and craft that put this independent maker on the map.
We have just treated this perpetual calendar to a full service by the manufacturer, and we specified that it not be polished, so as to retain the warm patina of the solid 18ct white gold case.
This rare (28 pieces only) Roger Dubuis Quantieme Perpetuel Much More well utilises the large, clear dial to indicate the perpetual calendar in à Guichets form with easy-to-read unfussy apertures. Moon-phase and date are indicated below, whilst the leap-year cycle is shown near 3.
Large curved cintrée case and stylish vintage-style Arabic numerals often evoke comparisons with the early wristwatches of the 1920s, but where Roger Dubuis truly excels is in the purposefulness of his technical work. They call it 'hyper horology'. This watch enjoys two independent certifications: the Poinçon de Genève (attesting the high grade of its finish, made in Geneva) and chronometer testing by Besançon Observatory.
Pre-Richemont, this watch was made in 2002 when Dubuis' work was still very much in an exploratory and adventurous phase. Comparisons with the work of Journe, Forsey and Mille are clear, and we all know how what's happened to the prices of these early independents.
Complete with hand-made alligator strap, un-marked papers, instructions, service history (warranted by Roger Dubuis), and impressed metal Geneva seal.
