In 1988 the 40mm automatic Daytona with sapphire glass was born, so this particular yellow gold ref. 16528 is an extremely important Cosmograph in the evolution of the Rolex Daytona. The beautifully serifed black 'Floating' dial (there's a gap between 'SCOC' and 'Cosmograph') and MK1 200' unit bezel, identify this as one of the earliest versions produced, these first examples all came fitted to the solid gold pre Fliplock 93150 Oyster bracelet. 

With just a handful for sale in the world, importantly, this self-winding Daytona has come to us complete with its polished wood Rolex box, red tag, calendar card, and punched Rolex warranty certificate and booklets.
