For the final few years of production, the 16570 Explorer II's were equipped with Rolex's upgraded 3186 calibre dual time movement (with improved date change) that equipped the next generation of sports models. Due to this characteristic, these rare Explorer II's have become a focus for serious collectors.

Retailed by Mappin & Webb in Regent St in 2008, this 40mm black dial 40mm example features the "RRR" engraved rehaut bezel, and additional red GMT hand for reading a second time-zone via the 24hr bezel.
