Explorer Gilt Dial "SCOC"
"Turning Tropical"
Did you know this was the first Explorer to feature the S.C.O.C. dial?
It's always exciting to find such a rare & well preserved example of a vintage 1966 gilt dial Explorer 1016, and this particular one is starting to display those highly coveted chestnut brown tropical tones. Unlike many other 1016's from this era, our 36mm Explorer dial has lost none of its glossy finish; with the beautiful gilt script debossed into the brown/black lacquer. The original creamy tritium of the hour markers (and matching 'Mercedes' hands), sit perfectly within their serifed borders, and identify this as a completely unrestored example - a collectors dream.
Powered by Rolex's self-winding 1530 calibre movement, and fitted to a 90's '78360' solid link Oyster bracelet.
