Sea-Dweller
1665 - Great White
Manufactured in 1977, and only in production for around 5 years, this vintage Great White maxi-dial Sea–Dweller was one of the first 1665's to adopt the all-white typeface, earning its nickname.
One of Rolex's most historically important professional dive watches, this 40mm Sea-Dweller succeeded the "Double Red", famously developed for COMEX. Off-white tritium hour markers and dark untouched Mercedes hands contrast the matte dial with delicately serifed white print. Well documented by scholars, the Great White evolved numerous times over its production; most notably was the omission of "Submariner" from the dial, further cementing its reputation as the hardcore divers' tool.
Evidenced by the numerous Rolex watchmakers etchings inside the case, this example with domed Plexiglas has been kept in well-preserved, but honest condition and is ready for its next chapter. It's fitted with the innovative Helium escape valve on the case side for saturation diving, good definition to the bevelled case edges and its lightly-ghosted aluminium bezel insert with 10-min graduations. Powered by Rolex's self-winding calibre 1570, fitted to its 93150 Oyster Fliplock bracelet, with 380 end links, and covered by our two-year comprehensive warranty.
