Sea-Dweller "Stardust Dial"
MK IV - "Triple 6"
The first thing that strikes you about this 1986 Sea-Dweller ref. 16660 is the stunning "stardust" patina of the dial. The original tritium hands and markers are now a warm ivory colour which match the lume dot at 12 on the bezel. It's worth noting that this 2nd generation Triple 6 (serial 942xxxx) is one of the desirable few where the glossy black dial is beginning to turn matt. Testament to its remarkable condition, the caseback still retains the original Rolex factory sticker, and the case lugs & correct 93160 heavy link Oyster Fliplock bracelet, barely show any sign of wear. The "Triple 6" is an important reference in the history of the Sea-Dweller, it was the first to feature a sapphire glass, the first SD to have a quick date change, and also the first waterproof to 4000ft. Finding a beautiful example in such original condition is becoming an increasingly rare occurence at The Watch Club, I guess that's part of what makes the search so special.
