Submariner Red Writing
1680 - Ghost Bezel
Vintage watches with bags of character are rare enough; so when they have such interesting history and are accompanied by provenance; that's when they become even more important.
This exceptional 1971 red writing Submariner ref. 1680 with original fat font 'ghost' bezel features a beautiful MK IV matte dial with creamy tritium hands & hour markers, a top hat Plexiglas, and was the first Submariner model to feature a date. Purchased from the original owner; a decorated recovery diver for the Spanish police force, (there are numerous newspaper articles written in honour of his distinguished career).
It shows all the gentle signs you'd expect from a tool watch used for the duration of its service, however, remains in unpolished condition, with fat case lugs & chamfers. Fitted to its correct '93150' Oyster bracelet, powered by Rolex's self-winding calibre 1570 and waterproof to 200m.
Presented with its Rolex box, previous Rolex service history and historically important literature. Under our two-year comprehensive warranty.
