Incredibly rare; this 9.3m serial is one the earliest Submariner ref. 168000 ever made by Rolex.

Only manufactured for around 9 months (all within 9xx - R5 serial), this sapphire glass Sub from 1986 was a "test reference" by Rolex, who'd upgraded the stainless steel case & bracelet from grade 316L to a higher grade anallergic and less corrosive '904L' material.

It features the MK I matte (T<25) dial, with warm creamy tritium 'Mercedes' hands & white gold 'Bicchierini' hour markers, matched perfectly by its lume pearl at 12. Fitted with a black graduated unidirectional aluminium dive bezel, powered by Rolex's self-winding calibre 3035 movement (waterproof to 300m) & fitted to its correct '93150' brushed steel Oyster bracelet.
