Submariner Date MK II "Matte Dial"
Rare Transitional Model
This transitional Sub Date Ref. 16800 (manufactured in 1982) was the first Submariner to feature a sapphire crystal glass.
We are particularly excited to see this watch is the perfect example of the very rare matte "MK II Dial" characterised by its unique alignment of "Swiss-T< 25" and distinctive dropped 'f' in "1000ft'. Much sought after by collectors, the luminous Tritium on the dial of these early transitional models is applied directly to the matte black surface (as opposed to the white gold bicchierini on shiny black dials of subsequent models). This pioneering Submariner is in excellent condition, has evenly aged ivory coloured hands and markers, and is fitted to its correct 93150 heavy link Oyster Fliplock bracelet.
To make this 'collectors set' even more special, it is presented with its original green leather Rolex box, swing tag (with 74xxx serial number), punched Rolex guarantee, plus 1996 & 2006 Rolex service guarantees.
