Launched in 1953, the automatic Datejust Turn-O-Graph was the first serially produced Rolex to feature a rotating bezel.

Around that time, pilots of the US Aerobatic Squadron "Thunderbirds" asked Rolex for support by providing them with durable watches, and in response, they received these Datejust Turn-O-Graphs. They're immense durability and use in the US Air Force subsequently earned the Turn-O-Graph the iconic nickname.
