Daniele Pizzigoni is the company's driving force. His keen eye and ability to secure the next investment watch, means much of his time is spent advising and building important watch collections for clients and friends.
Danny says financial targets have always played second fiddle to "â¦doing it better than anyone else". From the buying of watches, to their presentation, the shop's envied interiors, PR and customer service, it is rare to find somebody so carefully involved in every aspect of an organisation.
Danny inherited his passion for watches from his father, a self-taught specialist who built up an in-depth knowledge that he shared with his son. Taking (often dragging!) him to antique fairs, including the famous Portobello and Bermondsey markets, as well as auction houses where he formed friendships with some of the world's top watch dealers. By the age of 17, Danny had begun his watch career. After ten years learning his trade, he teamed up with an old-established watch specialist in Clerkenwell, later setting up Royal Arcade Watches in 1996, the forerunner of todayâs The Watch Club. He has dedicated the last fifteen years to really developing his knowledge of complicated Patek Philippe and vintage Rolex, and has a deep affinity to those particular brands. Aside from the shop, Danny is a collector himself, of watches (since his early teens) and contemporary art. His most prized watch is his steel, black dial Rolex Daytona 'Zenith' (ref.16520), which was given to him by his dad on his 21st birthday. This truly is an irreplaceable watch, and was his signature piece at the early part of his career.
