Breitling
Navitimer "Date"
Final Series Classic
The last of the great classical Navitimers before quartz, mad shapes, and eventual change of ownership of Willy Breitling's old family watchmaking firm.
Post-1971, Breitling returned to its original movement supplier, Valjoux, who had re-engineered their calibres for contemporary use, making them more robust. For the first time, Breitling also gives the classical Navitimer a date display.
Deep black lacquered dial, at 9.8mm, the large sub dials on this "big eye" model are about 1.6mm bigger than earlier Navitimer models, making them bright and clear to read. The red slide rule indexes are correctly matched on the inner and outer scales. The watch, dial and hands and movement are in exceptional condition – a chance to own an iconic piece of aviation history at a sensible price. Two-year warranty.
