With a retail price of over $50,000, this rare Bulgari x Daniel Roth Papillon is one of the only examples available in the world.

Daniel Roth's first Papillon watch was made in 1999 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his brand. This watch inherits all its best ideas for the contemporary age: characteristic double-ellipse case, easy-to-read jumping hour, and sector dial swept by a double-ended hand. This latter feature goes back all the way to Roth's original tourbillon, whose seconds hand was a triple-tipped star, sweeping over a short calibrated arc.

Here, the gold double-ended pointers show the minutes. Only one is active, for an hour at a time; meanwhile the 'resting' pointer flips round at right angles, patiently tracking round the opposite edge.

Daniel Roth's brand has been under the custodianship of Bulgari since the year 2000, where it has enjoyed technical investment and business stability. This Papillon Heure Sautante has its own in-house movement, the self-winding calibre BVL 252. Only available in 18ct rose or white gold, the model is also listed as BRRP45GPAP/102069.

Full size at 45mm, the watch is fitted with sapphire crystals front and rear, is fitted to an alligator strap with original solid gold Bulgari buckle and is provided with everything the collector demands: original box, booklets and warranty certificate.
