Very few watchmakers have the courage to build what they enjoy, rather than what they think the market wants. With the Élégante, Journe again proves his independence and single-mindedness – reasons why watches from his tiny annual production are now simply impossible to obtain. 

The Élégante is distinctively Journe at a glance, with its archetypal instrument-style hands, rope-knurl crown, tamper-proof trilobe case screws and calligraphic Arabic numerals.

For the movement, Francois-Paul Journe conceived an unexpected and useful design: ultra-low power quartz, with capability to operate for up to 18 years on a single battery! The high-grade wheelwork is powered by an electronic movement, with a senistive mechanical motion detector (visible through the dial). When no motion is detected for 35 minutes, the watch hands stop, conserving power. The time is retained, so that when you next pick up the watch, the hands quickly glide to the current time.
