Introduced in 1933, it was the first ever Perpetual Rolex with patented waterproof Oyster case, and screw-in winding crown. 'Oyster & Perpetual' are two words that still feature on almost every Rolex model more than 90 years on.

What makes this 1940's example special is the rare combination of 18ct rose gold (bezel & crown) with stainless steel. Its nickname, (never officially used by Rolex) derives from its domed caseback, specially designed to allow the 360-degree "super balance" auto rotor to spin freely beneath.
