For the final few years of production, the 16570 Explorer II's were equipped with Rolex's upgraded 3186 calibre dual time movement (with improved date change that went on to feature in the next generation of sports models). Due to this stealthy and unique selling point, these rare Explorer II's have become a focus for serious collectors.

Retailed in 2008, the white dial sits in a 40mm Oystersteel case (as opposed to the new 42mm), the Rolex "RRR" rehaut tells us that it is powered by the upgraded automatic 3186 calibre. The additional red GMT hand allows the reading of a second time-zone on the 24 hour engraved bezel.
