Rolex confirmed they produced 151,449 Submariner ref. 5513 in total; today there are less than 15 advertised for sale on Chrono24 from 1989, and few are in as lovely condition like this.

Dated from its serial number, this 'L23****' Plexiglas Submariner sports the Bicchierini dial; tritium-filled white gold cups are neatly set in place for hour markers on the glossy dial, earning its nickname. The tritium on this well preserved example has developed a beautiful creamy tone, matching the hands & bezel pearl perfectly. The reference 5513 evolved numerous times, as Rolex strived to improve the already enormously successful dive watch and poster-boy for Rolex's vintage Submariner Adverts. This present example was one of the last 5513's produced, before the reference was officially retired after being a loyal part of Rolex's production for 27 years (1962-1989).
