Breitling
Vintage Navitimer
Full Set - One Year Only
As rare as they get, this beautiful-condition vintage Navitimer from 1963 has a unique convergence of features that existed for less than one year in 1963. This was the first year of white sub-dials, seen here in a neat compact size compared to later models. It is the last instance of the beaded bezel, afterward giving way to the usual milled crenellations. The laquered dial is an exquisite gloss black with hardly any sign of age. The dial logo has the AOPA wings in raised gold appliqué, sans the letters "AOPA", and bears the word "Breitling" above in silver ink. The pre-tritium luminous markings have mellowed to a beautiful even subtle shade (the paint on many other watches from this era has blackened). This configuration of the beloved Navitimer is recognised among collectors as one of the rarest ever made. The movement is in remarkable condition and the case has enjoyed a single light polish. We cannot stress how delighted we are to be able to find one of our favourite chronographs in such excellent condition, and with box and papers (which carry an honest typo) as an unexpected bonus!
